Great Alaska Craft Beer & Home Brew Festival was founded in 1992. It is Alaska's oldest beer festival. The Southeast Alaska State Fair is a non-profit organization that gives back to the community. This beer lover's event was put on by the Southeast Alaska State Fair. It is surrounded by the beautiful Chilkat Range mountains, and it is centrally located so that walkers can enjoy it. Friday night will feature a gourmet brewer’s dinner with five-course meals and paired tastings of regional brewers. Only 200 tickets were sold. Home brewers from the region will be judged prior to the tasting. The Best in Show winner will be selected for the year. This is one of the most contested and rigorous Home Brew Competitions in the region. The Connoisseur's hour is a new event that takes place before the main event. This allows a smaller audience to talk to the brewers.
Live music, games, local merchants, and food vendors will all be on offer during the afternoon craft beer sampling. This is a great way for friends to meet up in Haines, drink suds, and make plans for next year at the same place.
